If you’ve ever been to a spa for a day of treatments, you’ll know how great you felt afterwards. Your mind and body are both treated to a truly indulgent experience. The relaxing effects of a spa day help to remove toxins from the body and bring stress levels right down. They can however be a little expensive and given the current economy, treating yourself to a spa treatment at the local health spa may not be an option.That doesn't mean you cant treat yourself though. You can recreate a mini spa experience in your very own home for next to nothing. Here’s how -

Ambiance. Get the mood right and you'll stand the best chance of achieving a relaxed state. Turns the light down and light enough candles so that the room is filled with a warm glow. Make sure that the room is a comfortable temperature so that your muscles don't tighten up. You should put some soothing music on and also use some form of scent. Your smell is one of your most sensitive receptors and by burning some incense or using aromatherapy candles, you can reach another level or calm.

Wash. Your first step in any treatment should be to wash you skin. This removes dust and dirt and gets rid of the top layer of skin cells. don't work the skin too hard or try to exfoliate too extensively. Just clean the skin by wiping it down with warm water and a soft sponge.

Facial. You don’t have to always fork out lots of money for a luxury skin care facial. Natural ingredients that most people have in their home can often work just as well. Mix together honey, olive oil and the white of an egg, and then apply all over the face. The egg white works to tone and strengthen the skin, honey is a natural antiseptic and there are great moisturising qualities to olive oil. Wash off after around 15 minutes and you'll be amazed at the results
