Location. Getting the location of the spa right is imperative. You don’t want to be travelling too far as it will mean leaving early and then worrying about getting back at the end of the day. The ideal distance is less than 45 minutes away as this will still make it feel like a trip away but is not too far to be an inconvenience. You should also consider if the spa is in town or in the country and whether or not it is close to other facilities such as a food outlet or park.

Treatment. Almost every spa offers a different range of spa treatments. Most will have the basics like massage, facials, manicures etc, but they often have their own variations and signature treatments. A good idea is to request a brochure from each of the spas that you are considering. This will allow you to directly compare what is on offer, look at which skin care products they use and make the best informed decision.

Reviews/testimonials. Most spas tend to be of quite a high standard, although there are definitely some dodgy ones out there as well. It is very difficult to tell the level of professionalism or the standard or service just by looking at their brochure or checking out their website. You should instead give them a call and ask them about what they offer. If they are polite on the phone and know what they are talking about then its a good indication the spa will be high quality. It is also useful to try and find testimonials or reviews, which can often be found somewhere on the Internet
